SETTING THE HOOK
Instructor: Jean Lauzier
Ever picked up a book, just to check it out and been surprised to suddenly find yourself turning the last page in the chapter? Or finished the first paragraph and decided it wasn't really something you would be interested in?
As writers, we want our readers to pick up our books or stories and be un able to put them down. However, that won't happen if you don't get them past the first paragraph.
In today's highly competitive publishing world, you only have a mere minute to catch the attention of a busy editor or agent. First impressions either sell or earn you another rejection slip.
Setting the Hook is a course to help you develop great hooks. In Setting the Hook, you will learn about the different types of hooks used by great writers. You will learn how to catch the attention of readers, agents and the busiest editors.
Each session will include reading assignments, writing activities and personal attention from your instructor. Assignments will be posted for comments and discussion.
